Scientific Name – Avena sativa.

Oats are one of the most healthiest grain eaten around the world in the form of oatmeal ,rolled oats .Porridge is made only from whole grain oats, which is an excellent part of a balanced diet

Be it a quick fix hunger , a hearty evening snack or a much needed energy for your hectic day, oats is perfect to fit your bag. Protein packed, full of fibers and low on fats this meal is designed to boost your energy with a great source of vitamins, minerals, fibers, and antioxidant which you can munch in the form of oats cake, oat cookie.

Oats Bar

INGREDIENTS : Granola bar Recipe

  • 2 1/2 cups old fashioned rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup nuts, roughly chopped
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt

METHOD

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Line a 9-inch square baking dish with parchment or foil and lightly spray with cooking spray.
  3. Place the oats and nuts on a rimmed baking sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes until lightly toasted.
  4. Place the nuts and oats in a large bowl.
  5. While the oats are toasting, add the honey, butter, and brown sugar to a small saucepan. Cook over medium heat until the butter melts and the sugar dissolves, stirring occasionally.
  6. When butter mixture is ready, remove it from the heat and stir in the vanilla and salt. Pour this mixture over the oat and nut mixture and stir to combine.
  7. Add any extra ingredients (except for chocolate) and stir to combine. Make sure none of the oats are dry.
  8. Place all of the oat mixture in the prepared pan. Use a rubber spatula or the bottom of a greased measuring cup to press the mixture into the pan.
  9. Chill the granola bars for at least 2 hours. Lift the bars from the pan using the edges of the foil or parchment and place them on a cutting board.
  10. Cut into desired shape/sizes and serve.

 Store very well in the fridge or freezer, wrap them in a bit of parchment paper before putting them in a container or plastic bag in the fridge so that they don’t stick together.

Oats have a lot of benefits as they are high in nutrition, helps in weight loss as it is low in calories, which slows the digestion and keeps you full longer, good for heart , reduces cancer risk, improves blood sugar control,
